The Coronavirus Pandemic

COVID-19 is turning the world upside down. Countries are closing their borders, travel has all but ceased, and the world is enacting quarantine protocols. In such an uncertain time, it's hard to know where to turn. Do we trust the media and the hype?

Anxiety and Fear is Rampant

Let's be honest—we're afraid for our families. Our parents and our children are at risk. Our schools are closing and children are being sent to homes that don't have options for childcare. What happens when we aren't allowed to go to our jobs? How will we provide for our families?

Grocery stores are selling out of toilet paper, Tylenol, and everything necessary to combat illness. Shelves are being emptied of food. Necessities are becoming scarce. Is the government going to pull through and help provide during this economic downturn?

Will we go into a recession? The stock market is teetering dangerously on the edge. It's hard to imagine what our near future could look like. Even worse, how long will this virus last? The President noted that we could be dealing with immediate effects into August

All the questions swirling around in your head can leave you depressed and anxious about your future. With cities like San Francisco enacting a mandatory 24-hour protocol—except for food and emergencies—will the rest of the US follow suit?

Help in Times Like These

For those of you who are already in weekly therapy to manage an existing mental health diagnosis, being cut off from your therapist can be a devastating blow. If you're dealing with anxiety and a sense of hopelessness from the uncertainty—you're not alone.

We partner with BetterHelp, an online therapy platform designed for times like this. Times when we need support, when we need encouragement, when we need hope—but we can't seek out help in an office setting. I started seeing a therapist through BetterHelp during a difficult transition in my life and was matched up with someone who truly cared about my well-being.

BetterHelp offers licensed therapists who are trained to help us through times of anxiety and uncertainty. They are trained to be a shoulder to lean on. They are trained to deal with mental health illnesses that we can't cope with alone. If you find yourself needing someone to talk to during this pandemic, consider BetterHelp. They are affordable and will work to match you with the best person to help you.
